UNIVERSITY OF TORONTO BOOKSTORES AND TECHNOLOGY SHOPS REFUND / EXCHANGE POLICY

COVID-19 Update

  • Will be enforcing our regular return policy but will assess each unique circumstance on a case-by-case basis
  • All returns will require an original receipt.

Products Purchased In-Store & Online

All items being returned must be unused, unopened and in their original selling condition. Refunds or exchanges of general merchandise can be made within 30 days of original date of purchase. Refunds or exchanges of textbooks & course materials can be made within 14 days of original date of purchase, some exceptions apply. Original receipt is required for all returns & exchanges. All Refunds will be issued in the original form of payment. All flash sale and clearance items are final sale.

Refunds requested within 30 days will be issued in the original form of payment. After 30 days, refunds cannot be made to the original form of payment and a store credit by a gift card will be issued for the refund amount.

IMPORTANT NOTE

UofT Bookstore reserves the right to limit or refuse to accept the return of certain merchandise at any time and for any reason.

UofT Bookstore has the right to request valid identification prior to accepting merchandise for a return.

The following items cannot be returned or exchanged:

General Books

  • Print on Demand titles
  • Test prep / exam guides
  • Special / custom orders

Technology Shop

  • Opened technology hardware / software
  • Software licenses
  • Headphones / earbuds
  • Cell phones are subject to the return policy of the phone carrier

Textbooks and Course Materials

  • New textbooks that have been marked, spine-cracked, worn, highlighted, corners bent, and generally used are non-returnable, texts must be in perfect condition
  • Open packages including open shrink-wrapped packages are non-returnable – shrink-wrapped textbooks must be in sealed, original packaging
  • Custom courseware. All Custom Books & Custom Course Materials including lab manuals, course packs, custom readers, custom texts, and Print-on-Demand titles are Final Sale & Non refundable
  • E-books are final sale and non-returnable
  • Access codes are final sale and non-returnable
  • Spiral bound material are final sale and non-returnable

All course materials are non-returnable if purchased 6 weeks after the start of Fall and Winter terms or 3 weeks after the start of Summer F, S, and Y terms.
All FALL H and Y texts and course materials purchased after October 13, 2020 are non-refundable and Final Sale.

Return or Exchange a Shipped Order

Please contact weborders@uoftbookstore.com with the words 'Return Request' in the subject line to request approval for returns.
Refunds or exchanges will not be granted without prior approval for returns.

Returns or exchanges must be made within 14 days of the first delivery attempt, as recorded by the shipping courier. The return address is located in the top left-hand corner of the invoice included with the order.

  • The customer is responsible for any return shipping charges
  • All returns are subject to inspection and must include the original tags, unopened in their original selling condition
  • Please make sure all returned items are sent with a trackable and insured service
  • We cannot take responsibility for items damaged or lost in the return transit
  • All international packages must be marked as 'RETURNED GOODS', to avoid any customs charges
  • The U of T Bookstore is NOT responsible for any return custom charges applicable

The University of Toronto Bookstore will deduct a 20% restocking fee from refunds for the following reasons:

  • Order is returned more than 14 days after first delivery attempt
  • Order automatically returned by the courier due to customer not accepting the package

Canada and US orders ship via UPS, international orders via DHL. All packages require a signature upon delivery; UPS / DHL may hold packages at the closest station if customers are unavailable to sign for delivery. Customers will receive a UPS / DHL tracking number via email when the online order is processed. International customers are responsible for paying any customs or import fees; DHL will contact customers for payment. Please refer to our International Shipping Policy.

Return or Exchange a Pickup Order

Pickup orders will be held for up to 1 months and then cancelled. To receive a refund for a cancelled order please visit us in-store or contact us via (416) 640-7900 x5850 or weborders@uoftbookstore.com

The University of Toronto Bookstore will deduct a 20% restocking fee from refunds for the following reasons:

  • Order cancelled after 2 weeks without pickup
  • Order is returned 2 weeks after pickup

All returns are subject to inspection and must include the original tags and be unopened in their original selling condition.

Original receipt is required for all returns/exchanges.

Defects & Transit Damage

If you discover an item has a manufacturer's defect or was damaged during transit, please contact weborders@uoftbookstore.com within 7 business days of receiving the product. We ask that you provide us with your order number, a description of the issue, and an image of the item. Replacements are subject to availability.

Holiday Gift Purchases

Holiday purchases of clothing / gift products made between November 1st and December 24th may be returned / exchanged until January 17th of the following year. An original receipt is required. University of Toronto Bookstore reserves the right to reject any return / exchange.
